Gaining access to Media Studio

The platform provides Media Studio to Twitter users who are under the Amplify Publisher Program or those who have a Twitter ads account.

If your account cannot access the Media Studio, you may contact your account manager to request permission.

Accessing Media Studio

If your account is eligible, you will be able to access Media Studio through Twitter.

  1. On a web browser, log in to your Twitter account.
  2. Click ‘More’ from the side menu on the left.
  3. Select ‘Media Studio’ from the drop-down menu that appears.

Adding other users to your Media Studio account

Maintaining a healthy online presence usually requires a team of professionals. With Media Studio, you can add as many users to your account to effectively manage your brand.

Give people varying access to your account and assign them a role to keep work organized.

Follow these steps to add users to your account:

  1. On the Media Studio page, click your name in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  2. Choose ‘Edit access to account’ from the drop-down menu. This will open a new browser window where you can manage your Media Studio account users.
  3. Click the ‘Add access’ button on the right.
  4. In the text box, type in the name or the @handle of the user you want to give permission to.
  5. Click the drop-down menu beside the name box and select what type of role you want to assign to the new contributor.
  • Studio Account Administrator – The user will have full access to the account, including the power to add, edit, or remove other users and change the settings.
  • Studio Contributor – This role lets the user tweet and interact on the platform using the account name. The contributor cannot add or remove other users or alter settings in the account.
  • Studio Publisher – This will let the user access media from the account Library. They will be able to publish it on Twitter but only under their own account name.
  • Studio Uploader – This role lets the user upload content to the account’s Media Library. However, they cannot tweet or view the account analytics.
  • Studio Analyst – This user will have full access to the account analytics only. The role does not let them tweet or modify media on the account. But they can still view media and broadcasts.
  1. Hit the ‘Save changes’ button to the right to add the user.

Using the Library

The Library serves as the main home page of your account’s Media Studio. You can immediately see the photos, videos, and GIFs shared on your account timeline.

  • Upload images, videos, or GIFs by clicking the ‘Upload media’ button at the top-right of the page. Select the media you want to add, then click the ‘Open’ button.

You can also use the ‘drag and drop’ method to add media files to your Library.

  • Remove media from your Library by clicking the trash bin icon under its thumbnail. Confirm its removal by hitting the ‘Delete’ button.
  • Prepare your content for posting by clicking the Edit icon (feather with plus icon) below the media thumbnail.

In the Tweet compose window, you can add text (maximum of 280 characters) to accompany your image or title and description to your video before hitting the Tweet button. Or you can opt to schedule your Tweet at a later date.

  • Add metadata to your media. Click the ‘Settings’ tab on your video to get the option to add a call-to-action link button.
  • Choose what thumbnail to use for your videos. Click the video and hit the ‘Select thumbnail’ button. You can choose a frame from the video or opt to upload a custom thumbnail.

Using the Media Studio Producer

Twitter Live streams are an effective way to reach your audience in real-time. You may feature live on-location events on your streams to include viewers that are not physically able to join the event.

  1. On the Media Studio page, click the ‘Producer’ tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Under ‘Broadcasts,’ click the ‘Create broadcast’ button.
  3. Enter the necessary details in the pop-up window. Hit the ‘Create broadcast’ button when you are done.

You can also schedule a live broadcast in the future. This will let you plan ahead and be more prepared before your stream starts.

  • Using Insights and Analytics

Once you gain 1,000 or more followers, you can get data from Twitter Insights. Simply click the ‘Insights’ tab at the top of the Media Studio page.

If you want to know more about the demographics of your audience, you can check out the details in the Analytics section. Click the ‘Analytics’ tab at the top of the Media Studio screen. This will open up a new window that displays Twitter Analytics. It is the same tool that is used by Twitter Ads accounts.

  • Monetizing your content

Click the ‘Monetize this video’ button to let advertisers and sponsors include their ads. Twitter will automatically include the ads, so you don’t have to find your own sponsors.

  • What internet browsers can I use to access Media Studio?

Popular web browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge are fully supported and can access all the Media Studio features.

Safari browser is also supported, but VOD custom thumbnails cannot be uploaded.

  •  Will using adblockers affect Media Studio?

Some features will be limited due to adblockers. One of which is the ability to add other users to your account.

To prevent adblockers from affecting Media Studio, turn the adblocker off while using the program. Alternatively, you may add twitter.com to the allowlist. Then reload the page to access all the features unrestrictedly.

  • Can I make a thread on Media Studio?

Currently, Media Studio does not support the creation of threads.

  • Can I edit scheduled Tweets in Media Studio?

You cannot edit already scheduled Tweets in the Media Studio. You can only view them there.

If you would like to edit the scheduled Tweets, you may go to your Twitter.com account or Twitter Ads account. The media resolution will have lower quality when edited here.

It is advisable to simply delete the scheduled Tweet you want to change. Then just redo the Tweet to preserve the quality and metadata.
